A Millennial’s Guide To Enjoying Coachella

Coachella is a millennial’s paradise–amazing music, glamorous people, delicious food, beautiful views, and so much more. The atmosphere is electric and the vibe, infectious. If you’ve already booked your ticket, there are a lot of awesome things to look forward to.

However, you should make sure you’re prepared. Need tips? Check out Frameology for this cool Coachella Survival Guide.

This 2017, the festival will be held on April 14-16 and 21-23, with Radiohead, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar as the headliners. There are a lot of other awesome performers as well. In millennial-speak: it’s gon’ be lit! To make sure you enjoy your Coachella weekend–or weekends–to the fullest, we listed some tips to help you prepare for the big date.

1. Book A Locker Early

Each year, Coachella draws an average of 99,000 people per day. You can only imagine how difficult it can be to get a good locker. Register as early as you can so you don’t run out of slots. If you aren’t from California, you can reserve one online on websites like http://www.lockersonline.com. Each locker can fit two full backpacks, and some even come with keyless locks. It really is so much more convenient than lugging around all your stuff.

2. Leave Your Expensive Stuff At Home

A music festival is not the place for expensive things, especially not jewelry. Leave your prized possessions at home or at your hotel to avoid losing anything. You wouldn’t want your awesome experience ruined by losing your engagement ring or your father’s watch, would you?

If something can get lost, there’s a chance that it will. Make sure your loose items (e.g. sunglasses, jackets, earrings, etc.) are things you can easily replace. If you bring your phone or video camera, make sure you have a pouch or a strap to keep them in place.

3. Have A First Aid/Emergency Kit Handy

Aside from bringing the essentials (water, food, cash, etc.), you should prepare for all possible scenarios. Prepare a first aid/emergency kit packed with band-aids, alcohol (the rubbing kind), aspirin, imodium (just in case!), claritin, xyzal, and other essential medicines.

4. Choose Comfort Over Style

While Coachella is a great place to show off your style chops, comfort has to come first. Trust us, you don’t want to be that person.

Slip into something that allows you to move around and enjoy the music. This is a concert, after all, not fashion week. Coachella is a place for singing your lungs out and dancing to your heart’s content; no need to be so fussy about your outfit. That said, there are so many outfits that are both stylish and comfortable. Need tips? Check out this page for some of the Coachella’s best dressed. Oh, and bring a hat. And cold weather gear.

5. Apply Sunscreen

If there’s one thing you shouldn’t forget, it’s this. The Colorado desert can punish you with lots of sun and unforgiving heat. If you’re not careful, you’ll leave the place sore and looking like a piece of raw meat.

Sunscreen and moisturizer are your best friends. Use them to stay fresh and get a decent tan. That way you’ll leave Coachella with great memories and even greater skin.

While preparing may not be the most glamorous thing, it really does pay off. Here’s to making your Coachella experience a memorable one!
